A DEAD END?

As you know all too well, my employment as a confidential assistant to Roy Dodge came to an abrupt end earlier this spring. However, I have come to see myself as a new sort of confidential assistant -- to each and every one of you. In that capacity, I can also act as a sort of informational clearinghouse -- an Old Country Buffet of evidence, updates, etc, if you will. And as such, here is a healthy scoop of strudel:

Many of you have recently sent me notes after completing expeditions to a particular location on the Idaho-Oregon border. All of these expeditions have been fruitless, at least from an Emerald Khroniker perspective (I hope some of you got a chance to stop at the Del Taco franchise that is relatively nearby). Though the evidence and reasoning are compelling, I think we must conclude at this point that we've hit a dead end there -- if there was something to be unearthed, I expected one of your sharp eyes would have spotted it by now.

Disappointing news, of course, and I'm not exactly sure where this leaves us (other than lunchtime) -- but you all have impressed and inspired me at every step of this investigation, and I have no doubt that will continue until all twelve emeralds have been recovered.
Good luck, dig proud, and bring me that 12!

Certain clues from the 9th floor have led me to believe that the number may be buried at a rest stop on the Oregon side of the border, rather than the Idaho side. Has anyone reported an unsuccessful dig at this site as well? I was planning on leaving on a 7 hour drive for this dig site immediately after work this evening and a rental car has been reserved. In your professional opinion as a confidential assistant, do you feel this attempt would be just as fruitless? No need to post this comment publicly, I just couldn't figure out another way to e-mail you. Please respond to myoclonicjerk79@gmail.com

Thanks!!!

Gus,
Thank you for your help. The buzz around the water cooler at the Junior Deducer headquarters is that Sigfried Plumpjack hid his loot at a rest stop on I-95 in Delaware, a rest stop that is now closed for construction. Any insight whether this, too, is a dead end? We want to stop Dodge and we're not sure whether to look elsewhere.
