CLUESDAY!

My former employer R.D. was frequently uttering utterances, most of which were utterly inscrutable to the under-buttered bread of my head. But the brown gravy of my mind cannot compare with the clear consommé of you sharp-spooned deducers out there — so I've decided to recount any past Dodge aphorism that bubbles up.

This afternoon, as I licked up the final scraps of a delicious mid-afternoon banana cream pie, I found myself remembering the Case of the Stumpy Rumpus — well, not the case per se, but rather a delightful bakery we stopped at on the way home from the investigation, where I encountered a similarly delicious banana cream. I was attempting to calculate up the portions I'd eat there vs at home vs on the way from there to home, with only a fork and a napkin as surveying tools; after much number-crunching, the answer was clear: as much as possible, as soon as possible. I didn't leave that bakery until the next morning. At some point during my calculations, somewhere between a rhubarb-haribo tart and a mudhoney crackle, Dodge tried to caution me, saying:

"IN GEOMETRY AND SLEUTHING, THE SIMPLE SOLUTION IS NOT ALWAYS THE CORRECT ONE."

I would not listen — my ears understood only the language of dessert. But perhaps you, wise deducers, perhaps you can find wisdom where I found only gluttony. Reclaim that 1! Recover that 6! Race to that 12!  Crack the Dodgy crackles!

I must weigh in that Cluesday has usurped Casual Friday as my favorite day of the week.

Ms. Jones: I'm glad to hear it. I must say, since my recent entry into unemployment, I've been missing Casual Fridays, when Dodge would permit me to wear my baggy tweeds. Nevertheless, there is a silver lining — I have replaced Casual Friday with Casual Pieday (forks optional!).

Six days til a new tip! I believe all these might contain some useful material, deducers.
